800 child porn pictures
An "isolated" man downloaded thousands of child porn images while alone in his Carlisle bedsit, a court heard.
Tadeusz Chechinski, 45, was sentenced at the city's crown court for criminal activity which came to light after police swooped on his home in September.
The device was analysed and a total of 3,843 illegal images were recovered. Some 385 still pictures and 13 movies were classed in category A the most serious.
A number of the http://www.hookeygin.uk children depicted were described as being of a "very young age".
"Mr Chechinski was interviewed," said Mr Rogerson. "He fully accepted the computer was his. Nobody else was responsible for downloading these images.
"There is no evidence to suggest them being shared or distributed."
Mr Rogerson added: "He said he would view the images when he had drunk alcohol, and next morning he would wake feeling ashamed, and he would delete the images."
But when police arrived, on September 23, he had not had chance to get rid of the most recent porn pictures.
Kim Whittlestone, defending, said factory employee Chechinski, of Finn Avenue, Carlisle, led an "extremely isolated existence" having moved to the UK from Poland six years ago.
He spoke little English, and after leaving work would return to his bedsit and drink alcohol about two bottles of whisky a week.

Judge Barbara Forrester suspended an eight month jail term for two years. Chechinski must complete a rehabilitation requirement and 120 hours' unpaid work.
He must also sign the sex offenders' register, and abide by the terms of a sexual harm prevention order each for 10 years.
